5 places we should all sanitize

We have never taken germs so seriously. From the constant use of hand sanitizer, to cleaning our groceries in bleach, a lot of habits have changed in the past 6 months. We’ve changed our thoughts on cleanliness to keep our loved ones safe and give us peace of mind. But, we bet you didn’t think of some of these areas. Follow is a list of areas you may want to give some extra thought the next time you take a sanitizing wipe out of the packet.

1 – Steering Wheel:

We’ve all done it. We get back into our cars after running in and out of various shops and the first thing we do is touch the steering wheel. We even do it after touching a petrol pump, one of the dirtiest communal services you can touch. Most people only clean the interior of their cars once a year! Scientists have proven that steering wheels are 4 times dirtier than your toilet seat. It is essential we start cleaning the areas we regularly touch and forget about. To help clean the interior of your car, we recommend using our cleaning cloth kit. With 3 different cloths for different surface areas, this will help stop the spread germs around your car. To help even further, you can use our disposable gloves whilst in shops, disposing of them responsibly before entering your vehicle.

2 - Debit/Credit cards:

Who knew something so small could carry so many germs. We simply tap our cards or pop them in and out of a machine, so how could they be so dirty? Have you ever asked yourself, how often are those card machines cleaned? We simply type our pins in and take our card back out and pop it in our wallets waiting to be used again. This then spreads the germs over our wallets and back onto our hands again. All you need to do is pop our 75% alcohol surface wipes into your bag and car and wipe your card when you are finished with it. This will help kill any bacteria sitting on it.

3 - Smart Phone:

We are on them for most of the day and when were not they are placed here, there and everywhere. Other people pick them up and we continue to touch them whilst we’re in the shops. Even if you are washing your hands, there is still a chance you are passing germs onto your phone. To clean your phone, spray our Aerosol Rapid Surface Sanitizer onto a microfiber cloth and give your phone a wipe. Let it dry and it is germ free again! Work it into your daily routine to make sure you stay on top of it.

4 - Laundry basket:

Bacteria from everywhere you have been loves to hitch a ride on your clothes. So, when we are throwing our clothes into a laundry basket at the end of the day, we cannot be surprised that it is a breeding ground for bacteria. Although we then clean our clothes in the washing machine, we cannot guarantee this will stop the spread of the bacteria that may be on our garments. Try and clean your basket each time you empty it for a clothes wash. Even leave some disinfectant spray beside it to remind yourself!

5 – Re-useable shopping bags:

We make sure our food is sanitized, but can we say the same for our bags? It is great that we have all now got a pretty reliable stash of re-useable shopping bags. However, 8/10 people have admitted to never washing their bags. Shopping bags are considered a high-touch item, meaning they are frequently touched by us and other products. This also means there is a lot of cross-contamination in our bags. To help sanitize your bags, use one of our wipes to clean out your bags after every food shop to make sure they are clean when stored away until the next shop. It also wouldn’t hurt to use some of our hand sanitizer before taking out your bags in the shop.

Although it may take some time to change our habits further, thinking of the little things will help kill unwanted bacteria. Using our 75% alcohol hand gel sanitizer regularly will help kill any transferable bacteria on your hands and our rapid surface spray is easy to carry around and kill unwanted germs in a flash. Next time you pick something up just think, should I be sanitizing this?
