Our range of recycled plastic phone leads and our commitment to sustainability

When we think back over the recent years with Simply Brands, there are a few moments in time which were clear big steps forward in our progress, mission and growth as a company. The day we created our Electric Vehicle Chargers is a day we’ll always be proud of and something we earmark as being the very moment our company took action towards our sustainability goals.

We’ve all heard of ‘greenwashing’. The term is used to describe businesses that like to talk-the-talk when it comes to sustainability. However, when you peel back the layers beneath their claims, they may not be as sustainable as they seem. This is something we have always been extremely conscious of at Simply Brands. Our sustainable mission is something we are constantly aware of, and as we strive towards being more sustainable, we want to highlight that there is definite depth and solid action towards superior sustainability for everyone involved in the supply chain.

So, as sustainability goals mean nothing without an action plan, we decided to take a closer look at our production process with our Simply Power range, and see how we could develop a line of sustainable power leads that reduces our carbon footprint. Our Simply Power range includes phone chargers and tablet chargers made for iPad, iPhone and iPod. They are also MFI Certified which means they are ‘Made for IOS, and approved for use with Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod products. These are also available as Lighting to Type C USB, Type C to Type C, USB to Micro USB and more. But, with key features like fast charging, great transfer speeds and keeping every device in sync, they effortlessly combine sustainability, efficiency and convenience.

And so, The Simply Power Sustainable Edition range offers the consumer a product that aligns with their personal sustainability awareness and goals and shows other businesses that it is indeed possible to be both profitable and sustainable at the same time. This brand new initiative, using recycled plastic bottles (instead of new plastic material) to create our power leads, showcases that we are committed to protecting the planet whilst still delivering quality products to the consumer. In fact, sustainable phone leads made from plastic bottles are a significant development in the world of technology and sustainability. The use of recycled plastic not only helps to reduce waste and prevent further pollution, but it also reduces the demand for new plastic production. This is important because plastic is a non-biodegradable material that takes hundreds of years to decompose, and its disposal in landfills contributes to environmental degradation and poses a threat to wildlife. The use of recycled plastic in products is crucial, and every product manufacturer should prioritize this in their production process. By doing so, we can promote a circular economy where waste is minimized, resources are conserved, and our planet is protected for future generations.

So, if we take a closer look at the Simply Power leads, we can see where the changes have taken place. Our Simply Power range is a quality selection of phone chargers and leads aimed at creating convenience for the consumer. How many times has your phone battery gone low when out and about with your charger stuck at home? Many consumers now require multiple chargers in multiple locations. This means, having a great value, reliable charger at home, in the car or at work for example is nothing short of necessary. With the popularity of such a product, we knew we could make small tweaks that would have a big impact. These would further increase the product desirability, whilst maintaining the profit margins. And so, the Simply Power Sustainable edition power leads now have outer braiding made from recycled plastic bottles. The rest of the lead structure remains the same, but with this recycled plastic outer braiding, along with the contemporary cardboard recyclable packaging, creates an aesthetic that’s pleasing and a change that makes a difference.

But what’s next? We’re excited to see how the global economy can reform in the coming years to a more circular economy which sees businesses and consumers working together to make, use, recycle and recreate. Thus removing the linear nature of so many of the products we use in our daily lives. The more products we can create that are from recycled material and recycle it again helps to create the cyclical nature of production which will reduce the carbon footprint and have a more positive impact on the environment. Furthermore, when we’re able to remain within firm boundaries using this as a framework by way of protecting social foundations and not crossing the ecological ceiling, we’re helping to create a doughnut economy in which we can flourish and thrive alongside nature harmoniously.

We know our Simply Power and EV Chargers are proving popular with our stockists and consumers, so now we’re ready to commit to furthering the changes and tweaks within our ranges. We are firm believers in Vision 2023 and the Sustainable Development Goals. This means we’re aiming to completely eradicate plastic packaging from our products by 2025 and continue producing new, green products for our market. We already have a brilliant electric vehicle charging range too, which extends our support for a greener space on the roads, but we know we can always do more.

We’re excited to continue our mission, experiment, research and develop our sustainable edition ranges, and we look forward to updating you on our journey towards that big 2025 goal of no plastic packaging!
