Our Winter Car Care Essentials

It’s safe to say winter has taken it’s hold with gusto! It can be a challenging and testing time for drivers with the ever-changing conditions. Sudden drops in temperatures and the unpredictability of the forecasts make it tricky to be prepared with your car. But, whether you’re planning a long journey or just your daily commute, you can make that preparation and journey time simple and stress-free.

Car Covers to Tuck them in

One of the most annoying things all drivers have to deal with during winter is scraping the car on a super frosty morning. But, with a Simply Car Cover, you can protect your car from frost and ice plus a whole range of other irritations such as dust, rain, tree sap and bird droppings making your mornings a breeze! They offer great general car protection and come in a range of sizes to suit all makes and models. Plus with front and rear elasticated hems, it covers a secure fitting and whole-car protection. Or, for a smaller, simpler fix for a smaller price, choose a car top cover, which offers the same protection on the windows of your car but just covers the top half. Both solutions are the perfect way to tuck your motor in at night.

Windscreen Shields

There’s something quite beautiful for a frost winter morning, until you’re late for work and have to get the kids to school on time! So keep things simple with a handy Frost Shield. Our Simply Frost Shields provide your car’s windscreen with a water resistant, PU fully breathable coating protecting it from frost and other nasties that ruin the windscreen. It fits simply, quickly and easy with suction cups so you can put it on and take it off with ease. Or, if you opt for the extended frost shield, you get further protection for the front windows too! It’s a super simple stress-free solution for the winter!

Everybody needs an Ice Scraper!

There’s just no escaping the ice during winter, and whilst it can provide very tricky driving conditions on the road, it just requires slow, steady and courteous driving by everyone and we can all get to where we need to be safely! But before you leave for the journey ahead, it’s all about preparing your car for a comfortable, safe drive. A must-have for all drivers is an ice scraper. Even if you do have a cover or shield for your windscreen, windows can still frost over during the day whilst you’re at work in very cold conditions, so a handy scraper is what we all need to hand! The Simply 3 in 1 super squeegee and ice scraper offers effective clearing on snow and ice. Or, for comfort while you clear, grab an ice scraper with glove! It keeps your hand safe from that painfully cold ice and makes the task in hand a little less daunting. Super fleecy and a universal fit, so it’s perfect for everyone, no matter who’s turn it is to do the morning ice scrape!

The benefits of De-Humidifiers

Getting your car ready for the journey ahead in a morning can sometimes feel like it takes longer than the journey itself! But if you have a car de-humidifier, you can reduce the time you’re waiting for the windshield to de-mist! A small de-humidifier can sit easily on the dashboard, stored in the foot-well, underneath a seat or in the door storage bin and can be used in cars, caravans and motorhomes and can work continuously to absorb excess moisture from the air reducing condensation and the risk of rust, mildew and musty smells.

Don’t forget about the mess

On top of all that, it’s no surprise that your car seems to be forever dirty, and not just on the outside. You can consider protecting your fabric interior from the rain, snow and mud with rubber car mats and seat protectors. It may seem so basic but we can assure you, cleaning a removable rubber matt is much easier than your fabric carpet and upholstery.

So, whether you love a winter wonderland or you dread the chilly mornings and dark nights, make caring for your car a total breeze. There are so many inexpensive, simple and easy-to-use solutions that take the stress away. And, once you’re out on the road, don’t forget to follow advice for careful, safe driving:

●      Keep your windscreen and mirrors clean to ensure great visibility

●      Regularly check oil and washer fluid levels

●      Always clear snow from the roof

●      Regularly check lights to ensure they’re all working correctly

●      Keep your tyres to a minimum depth of 3mm and use snow chains if there’s a lot of snow

●      Wear comfortable, dry shoes for driving

●      Allow extra time for driving

●      Keep at least a quarter of a tank of fuel in case of unexpected delays

●      Plan routes on major roads more likely to be gritted

●      Don’t drive if you’ve taken medication for a cold or flu that makes you drowsy

So, don’t get left out in the cold this winter and ensure safe and comfortable driving when you’re out on the road. Plus, with our Simply solutions, you can make that early start to prepare your car that bit less stressful, and you may even have time to grab a cuppa before you head out the door!
