Top Tips to transform your tired car

It is easy to fall out of love with your car. Most of us have them for years and years, ignoring the dinks and scratches and pretending that we chose the car in a faded colour. But, over time, those car journeys become uncomfortable and you begin looking out there for better, brighter solutions. But wait! There’s no need to jump the gun and fork out thousands of pounds for a new car! There are plenty of easy, inexpensive ways you can improve your current car, give it an upgrade and make it feel fresh again.

First, let’s start with the outside. There are loads of car scratch repair kits on the market to help magic away those little scratches here and there! They are pretty basic to use and will all more or less do the same thing. You can even get products that have colour in it, which should shine that scratch out. Just make sure you colour match, or the scratch will be more obvious than before! If the scratch is really deep, you may want to get a second opinion before using these products.

Don’t forget to grab a car cover for the winter months which will also help keep your car in good condition and protect it from the elements.

Moving inside, let’s start with the steering wheel. If you have had your car for a while, depending on how often you clean the inside of your car, the steering wheel can start feeling grubby and look a bit worn down. There are loads of options out there for steering wheel covers that are inexpensive and effective. You can get leather covers, wood-effect covers, padded covers and even furry covers if you fancy! And, for a bit more comfort, add a padded seatbelt cover to stop nylon rubbing on your arm on a long journey. Adding in a padded seat cushion, or even a heated one, will get you one step further to luxury on those long cold journeys too. You won’t want to leave your car!

No matter how much you try to keep them neat and tidy, car mats always take the brunt of the mucky paws and boots in every car. Grab some luxury car mats to get rid of your stained, worn ones. You can get fabric mats or rubber mats, depending on your preference which makes them perfect to tailor to your needs. The majority of mats are a universal fit, but double check the size before ordering. Mats come in a variety of colours too, giving a boring bit of the car some serious style! If you have little ones, rubber, wipe clean mats would be perfect! Plus, don’t forget to add some protective seat covers too for some simple protection of your seat fabric for the long-term, and are wipe-clean (Which, if you do have little ones, you’ll know how convenient that is)!

Now let’s take a look at the back! The kids tend to rule the roost here too, so this part of the car will always have something sticky on the windows and crumbs between the seats! However, there are accessories we can add to help entertain and keep things tidy. Let’s start with a car bin. They are mostly small and inoffensive and just pop up when needed. Most bins will hang off the back of the front seat, or stand steadily behind the seat. This small change should help cut down your car hoovering time! Most of our children have tablets too, which can really help with long journeys. You can also buy a range of tablet or phone holders, letting the kids watch a film easily whilst you drive in peace! And, if you’re carrying a brood, be sure to add a lead splitter to run multiple devices at once - Everyone’s happy!

And finally, the boot! To help keep the boot nice and tidy, everyone should have a boot tray. It will store all your car essentials and breakdown items neatly in a tray, which you can take in and out as you need. They come in a variety of sizes, colours and materials making them both stylish AND Practical.

Because that’s the thing with your car. You want something that’s stylish AND practical. And with the perfect combination of accessories these two things really don’t need to be mutually exclusive. These accessory changes may seem simple, but having a neat and tidy car will help restore calm whilst driving. Changing small things will help you fall in love with your car again and make it feel new! Nothing needs to be expensive, but small changes make the biggest impact!
